Lemon Poppy Seed Soap, or Danny's Soap

Danny's Lemon Poppy Seed Soap

I always listen when my customers make suggestions of different soaps they would like me to make. The other day, I was chatting with Danny, my May Customer of the Month.  Danny suggested a Lemon Poppy Seed soap.  I thought it was a great idea.  The only problem is that lemon essential oil is a top note.  Top notes are the first scent you smell when you sniff something.  They usually don't last long. I played around with some other lemon oils and came up with a blend of California Lemon, May Chang and Lemongrass that smells very lemony and seems to hold up well in the soap. I think it looks as beautiful as it smells and I can't wait to try it.

If you have an idea for a soap that you'd like me to make, leave a comment below. I would love to hear your ideas.

Yours in Gratitude,
Angela

Gratitude List 8.12.13

This week my gratitude list has a theme. A few months ago, my husband found out the company he was working for was moving across the country at the end of the year. We had a choice to make, relocate with the job or stay on Long Island and try to find work here. We choose to stay.  Brian was able to find a job, but at a pay cut. He starts his new job today. Here is my gratitude list.

My husband Brian, hopefully he will have lots more time for things like this!

1. Brian has found a job that he believes he will enjoy
2. We are able to remain where we are, geographically close to both of our families
3. I will be able to dazzle my husband with my money saving skills
4. We will be eating healthier since we will be cooking and not be going out to eat that often
5. This job has less pressure and Brian will have more time to slow down and do some things he enjoys...like spend more time with me!

What are you grateful for this week?

Yours in Gratitude,
Angela

August Customer of the Month

Meet Larain, my August Customer of the Month. Please check out her website. Her office is in Bethpage.

Tell me about yourself, your family and what you do for a living.
I’m a family chiropractor in Bethpage.  I work with both children and adults and especially love working with pregnant women (I’m certified).  I started my own practice 4 years ago.
How long have you been using Alegna Soap products? What product is your favorite?
I’ve been using Alegna Soap for more than 2 years now.  I met Angela then and she was so passionate about her soaps.  I ordered them as favors for my sister’s baby shower and give them away as gifts, of course in addition to using them exclusively.  My favorite is the Peppermint scrub because I love how it exfoliates.  I also love to try limited editions, my current favorite is the one with Anise.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I LOVE spending time with my 9 month old nephew.  Watching him grow is very special to me.  I also enjoy practicing Vinyasa yoga, reading, and spending time with family and friends.  I’ve recently started traveling, which is something I’ve always wanted to do.  This summer I’m going on a tour with a friend to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.  I’m very excited.
Do you have a guilty pleasure?
Yes.  I like to read celebrity gossip on Perezhilton.com.  Yes, it is a guilty pleasure, lol.
Do you watch sports? Which one? What is your favorite team?
No.
Do you have any pets?
I have an 11 year old beagle names Max.  He’s been with me since chiropractic school.  He is slowing down but is a lovable dog.
What is your favorite movie?  Movie star? What was the last movie you saw?

I like romantic comedies.  One of my favorite movies is Family Man with Nicholas Cage.  But my favorite actor is Ben Affleck.

What was the last book you read?
One Day, by David Nichols.  What a great book!

What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?
I would be doing what I am doing now, running my own chiropractic office-so far, so good J

Describe your perfect day
My perfect day is spending time with my sister and nephew, making him laugh and smile.
Mountains or seashore?
Definitely seashore.
Tea or Coffee?
Coffee.  I like to try different types of coffee.
Are you a morning or a night person?
Neither, I’d say I’m a mid-morning person.
Favorite color?
Red.
Favorite food?
Italian food.
Favorite season?
Summer.
What inspires you?
People that are genuinely happy and are willing to learn and grow.  It inspires me to do the same!  I’m also inspired by my yoga teachers.

Thanks Larain for taking the time so I can to get to know you better.

Yours in Gratitude,
Angela
