Gratitude List 2-26-13

I like doing a weekly gratitude list. It helps me focus on the good things in my life. During the week I find myself looking for things I am thankful for. I'm trying to focus on small things, things I usually overlook.

Here is my list for this week.

1-Hot morning showers.
2-Watching the birds on my bird feeder.
3-Consignment and thrift shops.
4-Morning sunlight.
5-A bowl of hot soup for lunch on a cold day.

What are you thankful for this week?

Yours in Gratitude,
Angela

Snow Soap- part 2

The sidewalk is clear, cars are snow-free and there is a pot of chili on the stove for dinner.  I'm ready to go play in the soap studio.

My oils are melting.
Weighing the snow in my lye pitcher.
Mixing the snow and lye.
Combining the oils and snow-lye.
Snow Soap!
This morning I used the seaweed-seawater soap I made last summer and remembered the beach. This soap will remind me of the blizzard and the sparkling snow.

Yours in Gratitude,
Angela

Snow soap

There was a blizzard in New York last night.

Brian cleans off my car

As I was shoveling snow off the porch, I look at the snow.  I mean I really look at it.  It sparkles, and is white and fluffy. I get an idea.

My pitcher of snow

I go back into the house, get a pitcher and scoop up some snow. Why?  I'm going to make snow soap.  Stay tuned, I need to go back outside and dig before I get time to play in my soap studio...

Yours in Gratitude,
Angela

Gratitude List 2.5.13

The past few weeks have been difficult, my dad was diagnosed with cancer and in the hospital. During that time I tried to find five things I was grateful for each week. My dad is now home and things are slowly getting back to normal.  Focusing on what I was grateful for helped me get through that rough spot, and I decided to do it every week. So here are the things that happened this past week that I am grateful for.

The materials used to make my solid perfumes

1-My daughters 27th birthday..
2-My son came home for a visit.
3-The ceiling in my kitchen is fixed, I was able to put everything back where it belongs, and my house is organized again.
4-A new private label order.
5-Time over the weekend to play around and make myself some solid perfumes.

Please feel free to comment and/or make your own Weekly Gratitude List.

Yours in Gratitude,
Angela

February's Customer(s) of the Month

February's Customer of the Month is a mother and daughter team I met the first year I started selling my soaps, and they have followed and supported me from the beginning. Victoria is an upcoming soap maker herself, we worked together on her science project making soap last year.

Victoria - I am a high school student

How long have you been using Alegna soap?
Both - 1 1/2 - 2 years

Which soap is your favorite?
Nancy - Peppermint Scrub. It's aroma and scrubbies help me wake up in the morning.
Victoria - The Limited Edition Christmas Soap.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Nancy - Spare time is rare, but I love action and sappy movies, reading, sewing and crafting.
Victoria - I love sleeping, reading and listening to music.

Nancy - Sean Connery, Mark Whalberg, Jim Caviezel.
Victoria - Jennifer Love Hewitt.

What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?
Nancy - Cure cancer and or mental illness.

Describe your perfect day
Nancy - Everyone gets to school and work on time (no aggravation) with neat clothes and great hair and on return home the house is clean and dinner is hot and on the table. (Hey a girl can dream!)
Victoria - A day spent in a library like in Beauty and the Beast.

What is your favorite movie?

Thank you Nancy, for allowing me to get to know you and Victoria better, and to watch the mutual love and respect you have for each other. You are both a joy!
